SA TARONJA ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein zur Unterstützung zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur im Südwesten der Insel Mallorca. Es ist vielleicht das ungewöhnlichste unabhängige Kulturzentrum Mallorcas und wahrscheinlich eines der beliebtesten.

Der Verein SA TARONJA ist untrennbar verbunden mit seinem wunderbaren Zuhause, dem Gelände der Finca C´an Burgos mit ihren Orangen- und Zitronenplantagen rund um die umgebauten ehemaligen Hühnerställe. Ganz Andratx wurde noch bis vor 25 Jahren von C´an Burgos´ Federvieh mit Eiern versorgt. Die Heimat von 8000 Hühnern erhielt durch die Hand von engagierten Künstlern und ihren Freunden ein neues Gesicht: Es entstanden Kunstgalerien, ein Theater, Tanzhalle, Studios und Werkstätten, umgeben von duftenden Rosen- und Kräutergärten, ergänzt durch Grasflächen, Terrassen sowie eine Open-Air-Bühne.

Vor mehr als 12 Jahren begann der deutsche Künstler Hartmut Usadel gemeinsam mit als kleiner Klub auf Initiative einiger lokaler Künstler um den deutschen Künstler HARTMUT USADEL. Daraus ist inzwischen ist daraus ein rühriger Kulturverein mit einem ambitionierten Programm geworden, der ein bis zwei Konzerte oder Performances pro Woche und bis zu 10 Kunstausstellungen im Jahr durchführt. Es finden über 20 regelmässige Tanz-, Kunst- und Musikkurse für Kinder und Erwachsene sowie Workshops zu speziellen Themen rund ums Jahr statt. Darübershinaus bietet SA TARONJA Ateliers und Werkstätten für lokale Künstler sowie Übungsräume für Tänzer und Musiker.

Das Zentrum erarbeitete sich mit seinem breitgefächerten und immer wieder überraschenden kulturellen Angebot einen sehr guten Ruf auf Mallorca.

SA TARONJA is a not-for-profit Association whose aims are to foment arts and culture in the southwest of Mallorca. It is probably the most idiosyncratic of all cultural centres in Mallorca, and one of the most loved.

SA TARONJA is indissociable from the marvellous space that it inhabits: the ex-chicken farm full of orange- and lemon trees at the end of the Calle Andalucía in Andratx. Twenty five years ago these halls held 8,000 chickens. They have been transformed into galleries, a theatre, dance hall and studios, a rose garden, a vegetable patch, lawns, terraces and an outdoor stage.

In the twelve years of its existence it has grown from a small social club for a handful of artists with the German artist Hartmut Usadel to a dynamic and vigorous association that presents one or two concerts or performances per week and up to 10 exhibitions throughout the year, runs over 20 classes for adults and children in art, music, and dance every week, offers studio space for local artists, practice rooms for dancers and musicians, and specialised workshops all round the year.

We offer most events at a token cost and many other events are free. Beyond art and culture, we work on raising the consciousness of the population on issues such as environment, recycling and immigration.

SA TARONJA has earned an enviable reputation for producing a distinct yet unpredictable brand of cultural programme in Mallorca.

Sa Taronja tiene su sede en Ca'n Burgos, una magnífica finca en las afueras de Andratx, en la cual, en los años 60, el andritxol Guillem Reus Bosch instaló una granja industrial,  tras su carrera en Cuba como refinador de azúcar y destilador de ron.

En las tres naves que antes daban cobijo a 8000 gallinas y pollos, hay ahora estudios para artistas, salas de exposiciones, una sala de teatro y proyecciones, un salón de baile, y espacios para otras actividades.

Sa Taronja ofrece un contacto directo con la cultura, con conciertos, exposiciones, obras de teatro, y un sinfín de actividades relacionadas.
